Cape Town Birding Tours for locals.

We are excited to announce our Cape Town Birding day tours. These tours will run once the lockdown regulations allow.

Due to the COVID -19 pandemic, we have had to postpone or cancel our tours during 2020. The upside of this is that once we are permitted to operate again, we will be offering our Cape Town days tours to locals at discounted rates.

These tours are great for birders and nature enthusiasts wanting to develop their bird and wildlife knowledge with an expert guide. Increase your bird list, make new friends and experience the Cape’s birds in a relaxed and fun way with an expert bird guide. 

You will be supporting the local economy and a business which underpinned by strong conservation values.

We are offering two types of tours, morning and full day tours:

Morning Tours

We will meet you at one of the following destinations: Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, Rondevlei Nature Reserve, Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Kommetjie or Rooiels/Bettys Bay. 

We spend the morning birding with you, helping you to develop your bird knowledge and show you new species.

Cost: R400 per person. Includes: Guide, spotting scope, bottled water, coffee and tea, checklists. 

You are welcome to bring your own packed breakfast or brunch or we can organise that for you for an additional fee.

Full Day tours(drive)

We collect you or spend the day travelling in your vehicle, visiting selected sites from the list above, including locations such as Rooiels/Strandfontein Birding Area, West Coast National Park, Darling Hills area or Intaka Island.

Cost: R1750, with a R100 surcharge per additional person after the first. Includes Coffee, tea and biscuits. Bring your own lunch or ask us to arrange this for an additional fee. On a full day trips you can expect to see between 70-100 species on a given day. 

These tours are a great experience for friends, individuals and families. Learning to recognise appreciate birds is an interest that stays with one for life. They are after all the finishing touches in nature.

Some of the key species: Orange-breasted Sunbird, Cape Sugarbird, Cape Grassbird, Cape Siskin, Bank Cormorant, African Penguin, Rufous-chested Sparrowhawk, Lemon Dove, Maccoa Duck, Black-necked Grebe, Spotted Eagle Owl, Cape, Brimstone and Forest Canary, Cape Batis, Cape Rock Thrush, Blue-manteled Crested, African Paradise Flycatcher, Cape Batis, Olive Pigeon, Forest Canary, Olive Woodpecker, Sombre Greenbul, Victorin's Warbler, Bank Cormorant, Chestnut-vented Titbabbler, Cape Penduline Tit, Karoo Lark, African Rail, Black Harrier, Cape Weaver, Capped Wheatear, Blue Crane, Secretary Bird, Grey Tit, Grey-winged Francolin, Cape Spurfowl, Pearl-breasted Swallow, Bokmakierie, Karoo Scrub-Robin, Chestnut-banded Plover.

Mammals you may see: Caracal, Chacma Baboon, Rock Hyrax, Small Grey Mongoose, Cape Mountain Zebra, Bontebok, Cape Eland, Cape Grysbok, Cape Fur Seal, Southern Right Whale, Hump-backed Whale, Bryde's Whale, Common Dolphin, Dusky Dolphin.

Excludes: Entrance fees, self-drive fuel, lunches.

We adhere to all Covid-19 risk mitigation measures. Our equipment and vehicles are properly sanitized and depending on the level of risk at the time of operation, the appropriate measure must be taken. Facemasks may be required once operations are permitted and using hand sanitizer and washing hands should be a normal practice. When you book we expect you to divulge your
